5500 Series Egress Specifications

 

SPECIFICATIONS

GENERAL PROVISIONS: All Egress Single Hung windows with operable louvers as shown in architectural drawings shall meet or exceed the latest AAMA requirements for H-HC-65.

Designated Egress windows shall comply with handicap accessibility requirements, opening from the inside with one 5-pound movement. The complete window of louvers, screen and sash shall open with the same movement opening of the Egress window. Means of Egress shall comply with the requirements of SREF without compromising the aesthetics of the window.

 

MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION

FRAMES: Egress frame shall have a minimum of 5 11/16" in depth, .125" wall thickness and shall be manufactured from 6063-T5 extruded Aluminum alloy. Head, sill and jamb members shall be one (1) piece construction.

Egress window shall have a minimum of 5 1/2" in depth, .078" wall thickness and tubular head and sill members to achieve a square, non-sag Egress window. Window frame jamb, louvers and sashes shall be identical to the model 5500-4 single hung window.

 

HARDWARE

HINGES: Egress window shall be mounted to frame with 1-1/2 pairs of 4x4 stainless steel butt hinges with non-removeable pins.

LOCKS: Egress window shall have two (2) white bronze dual locking handles with tie bar. Bottom locking handle shall not exceed 48" above finish floor line.

 

WEATHERSTRIPPING

Egress frame shall be provided with one (1) row of extruded bulb vinyl, set into integral grooves of frame members. Weather stripping shall be provided at entire perimeter of frame to assure weather tightness.

 

GLAZING

Egress window shall be designed to receive 1/4-tempered safety glass.
